Clara Day, shocked and wounded, and alone once more after breaking up with Luke Marsdon, returns home to the family farm in Somerset. But she is not happy to be there; she is haunted by ghosts of the past, and suffocated by the strangle hold of her parents, who now they have her back are unwilling to let her go again. She flees to seek a new future in London. But the spy world needs her, and she is reeled back in and enlisted into Office60, an arm of the Secret Service. It is not just for her skills she is required; there is a far darker motive. As Clara gets to grips with her new life and tries to learn to trust her new friends, treachery walks beside her. It is 1986 and The Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and Madonna were the soundtrack to life in Margaret Thatcher’s Britain. Football hooliganism dominates the news, the Channel Tunnel deal is signed, and the Iran-Contra scandal is about to break. MI6 are keen to prevent weapons being traded with Iran and Office60 are called in when it appears an arms deal is taking place in London. There is also a traitor to be eliminated. In this complex web of deceit and treachery, dangers lurk in the shadows as Clara attempts to assist with the operation and to get others to trust her as she learns the ropes of her new role within the Secret Service. How do you trust anyone when nothing is as it seems and no one is truthful about who they are or what they want from her? The past she sought to flee catches up with her, placing her life in jeopardy. She must face the memories and resolve her relationship with her elder brother to decide where her loyalties lie before it is too late.
